>On the first Sunday of the May Sweep, ABC won the night by matching its rating on the same evening last year, while the other broadcast declined from year-ago levels: CBS down four tenths of a rating point, FOX down a negligible one tenth, and NBC down a disastrous nine tenths of a rating point. Check out how these numbers impact the sweep-to-date averages.

FOX returned its animated comedies to the air after a week off for the network’s 25th Anniversary Special. The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers matched recent ratings for original episodes, while Family Guy at 9:00 pm is on track for its best rating in about six weeks. FOX Sunday is slightly lower than the same night last year, although adjustments in the official nationals might make up some of that difference. Last year 7-10 pm on this night: Family Guy repeat (1.5), Family Guy repeat (1.5), Simpsons (2.7), Cleveland Show (2.0), Family Guy (2.4) and American Dad repeat (1.9).

CBS is probably demanding a recount of last night’s ratings. Amazing Race is currently down four tenths of a rating point from the last few weeks, matching a season low. And the season finale of The Good Wife wilted from recent episodes, also matching a season low. And then there’s NYC 22 at 10 pm, now down to a 1.2 rating in its third telecast. The night overall is down four tenths of a rating point from the same night last May. Last year on this night: 60 Minutes (1.5), Amazing Race (2.6), Undercover Boss (2.0) and CSI: Miami (1.8).

NBC finished fourth on the night with its regular line-up, struggling to get above a 2 rating at any point. (It finally made it in the 10:30 half hour, hitting a 2.3 rating for the Boardroom climax with Donald Trump). But half the night was below a 1 rating, and compared to last May, NBC Sunday has completely fallen apart. On this night last year: Dateline (1.4), America’s Next Great Restaurant (1.6) and Celebrity Apprentice (3.1).

Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
