NBC’s The Voice averaged a preliminary 3.5 rating with Adults 18-49 last night, probably rising to a 3.6 in the official nationals (which would be another new low for the series and a resumption of the gradual slide downward since early March). Smash is currently a 1.8 rating in the fast nationals, perhaps rounding down to a 1.7 in the official nationals (clearly its lowest-rated episode of the show). For the night, NBC finished second with a 2.9 rating. Still it’s a big improvement from last year on this night: Chuck (1.4), The Event (1.3) and Law & Order LA (1.4).

CBS averaged a 3.1 rating last night from 8-11 pm, very similar to the last time the entire schedule was filled with original episodes (a 3.2 rating three weeks ago on April 9). With some lucky upward adjustments in the official nationals, CBS could round up to a 3.2 later today. The individual show ratings were fairly close to the ratings on April 9, and CBS must be disappointed it didn’t get a ratings bump from Hawaii Five-O at 10 pm, which kicked off its massively promoted Five-O/ NCIS: Los Angeles crossover event (a potential pandemic threatens Honolulu and LA). Hawaii Five-O remains stuck at its season low in the fast nationals for last night. Still CBS showed big gains over last year on this night when the comedy block was dragged down by a repeat of Two and a Half Men still reeling from the departure of Charlie Sheen and the forced production hiatus: How I Met Your Mother (2.8), Mad Love (2.2), Two and a Half Men repeat (2.2), Mike & Molly (2.4) and Hawaii Five-O (2.5).

ABC had a mixed night. Dancing with the Stars bounced back down after a very solid week last Monday, while Castle had a nice outing with its best rating since November 7. Last year on this night on ABC: Dancing with the Stars 8:00-10:00 (4.5) and Castle (2.9).
