NEW GIRL, riding high off its exceptional rating last night, today became the first new series of the season to score a back-order of Spring episodes. Even better, FOX made a statement by ordering 11 additional episodes instead of the usual 9 (normally, even if the network thought they’d ultimately want 11, they’d order 9 for now and then add 2 later on, so as to avoid the slightest possibility of paying for episodes they might not actually need). This will make a total of 24 New Girls for the season. The order kicks off an especially fun period at the networks (that was sarcastic), as the producers of every other new show that isn’t an outright flop start badgering anyone who’ll take their calls, demanding to know when their back-order is coming. First on the phone lists, and deservedly so: 2 Broke Girls. (I mean they’re broke, right? So they need the money.)
