Other than So You Think You Can Dance on FOX, reality on the other networks completely tanked last night. Both Duets and Dogs in the City continued their miserable runs at around a 1 rating and part one of two-night Justin Bieber music special pulled a sub-1 rating.
FOX won the night with a 2.4 preliminary 18-49 rating from 8-10 pm, fairly close to the last few weeks. A likely upward adjustment in the official nationals should put SYTYCD even with the last two weeks. Four-week Wednesday track for SYTYCD: 2.7– 2.5– 2.5– 2.4.
ABC and CBS tied for second with a 1.2 rating from 8-11 pm. Repeats of The Middle and Suburgatory each logged a 1.0 rating, followed by the highlight of the night for ABC, a repeat Modern Family (1.6), the second-highest rated broadcast program last night (yikes). Duets matched last week’s series low, a 1.1 from 9:30-11:00. CBS had Dogs in the City screw the pooch again (a 1.0 rating last night, similar to the last two weeks). After premiering at a 1.3 rating, subsequent episodes: 0.9– 1.1– 1.0. Repeats of Criminal Minds (1.3) and CSI (1.4) rounded out the night.
NBC tried something new at 8 pm, Justin Bieber: All Around the World. It didn’t work. A 0.9 rating from 8-9 pm, underperforming repeats of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers and doing about the same as repeats of Up All Night at 8:30. Repeats of SVU (0.8 at 9 pm and 0.9 at 10 pm) continued the little-watched evening. For the night, NBC turned in a fourth-place 0.9 rating from 8-11 pm. Part 2 of the Bieber tribute/infomercial airs tonight from 8-9 pm.
UPDATE: Nielsen re-released the Tuesday national ratings. Tuesday official national ratings (delayed until early this morning) give ABC a 7.1 7.4 rating for Game 4 of the NBA Finals. In prime time, the game started at a 5.1 5.3 in the 9:00 half hour, then built to a 6.7 (unchanged) at 9:30, a 6.8 (unchanged) at 10:00 (much of which was halftime), and ended the prime time portion with an 8.0 rating from 10:30-11:00. For the night, ABC finished with a 4.9 rating (unchanged) from 8-11 pm, including a 1.1 (unchanged) for Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night at 8:00 and a 1.7 2.2 at 8:30 for NBA Countdown. Game 5 airs tonight with Oklahoma City facing elimination. Ratings for Game 5 should build somewhat tonight, probably to a high-7 rating. The series ratings so far: Game 1 Tuesday (6.9), Game 2 Thursday (7.1), Game 3 Sunday (6.5), Game 4 Tuesday (7.4).
