>Compared to last year, CBS is closest to the the network rating on the same night last November.  FOX is still way up over the final Thursday of the 2010 November sweep, and ABC and NBC are way down year-to-year.  On The CW, the theatrical flop Beneath the Blue managed only a 0.8 rating from 8-10 pm and that number will come down substantially because CW stations in New York and Denver were carrying the Giants-Broncos football game.

FOX continues to show Thursday time period improvements versus last year, but the spread is decreasing as The X Factor continues to fade.  The X Factor results show hit a Thursday low 3.0 rating, now only three tenths of a rating point above Bones at 8 pm last year (2.7).  At 9 pm, however, the relocated Bones (2.8) is still well ahead of Fringe (1.9) .

Big Bang Theory and Rules of Engagement had solid outings last night, far ahead of the pace on this night last year: Big Bang (4.3) and $#*! My Dad Says (3.0).  The 9-11 pm dramas returned to originals, with Person of Interest near its recent levels and The Mentalist down from the November 3 season high at a more typical level for 2011.  Last year on this night, CSI pulled a 3.1 rating and The Mentalist posted a 3.0 at 10 pm.

ABC missed Grey’s Anatomy last night.  At 8 pm, a Katie Couric 20/20 special with Regis Philbin scored a 1.5 (slightly better than recent numbers for the canceled Charlie’s Angels but below the 2.2 for the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special on this night last year).  A two-hour Private Practice could only muster a 2.5 rating from 9-11 pm.  This night last year, Grey’s rated a 4.3 at 9 pm and Private Practice posted a 2.9 at 10 pm.

NBC’s struggling Thursday lumbers on.  The 8-9 pm numbers for Community and Parks & Recreation were fairly typical of recent weeks, while The Office slid below a 3 rating and Whitney below a 2 rating.  The Office might go up to a 3.0 in the officials, but Whitney while probably stay at a 1.9, given recent patterns.  Dead man walking Prime Suspect tied a series low.  Last year on this night: Community 1.9, 30 Rock 2.2, The Office 3.8, Outsourced 2.6, Apprentice 1.2.
