The networks mostly took the night off.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: At 3.6, EMPIRE nearly tripled the next-highest rating of the night–but it also continued its decline, down another 0.2 to the show’s lowest rating ever aside from a 3.1 on Thanksgiving Eve. ROSEWOOD started the night at a steady 1.2.
CBS: The Eye was the only network to air 3 hours of original programming last night, to mixed results. SURVIVOR gained 0.1 to 2.0, and CRIMINAL MINDS was steady at 1.7. However, CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS fell 0.2 to 1.3, despite facing a rerun on NBC.
ABC: Only NASHVILLE was new, and with a 0.1 drop to 0.8, it was outrated by all the line-up’s reruns, which were led by MODERN FAMILY’s 1.2.
NBC: HEARTBEAT returned after 2 weeks off and was up 0.1 to 0.8, tying it with the night’s procedural reruns.
CW: Reruns at twin 0.3s.
The networks step back into the fray tonight with a full boat of all-new line-ups.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
