The EMPIRE season finale was big but diminished.

FOX: EMPIRE’s Season 2 finale almost doubled the next highest-rated show of the night, and its 4.0 was up 0.3 from last week. But that was down a huge 2.4 from the 2015 season finale. ROSEWOOD gained 0.3 from last week to 1.4.
ABC: It was sitcom finale night on ABC, and THE MIDDLE was steady with last week at 1.6, which was down 0.1 from last year’s finale, while THE GOLDBERGS was down 0.1 from last week to 1.8, down 0.2 from 2015. MODERN FAMILY and BLACK-ISH both held last week’s numbers at 2.1/1.5, and both were down from last year, by 0.2 for FAMILY and 0.1 for BLACK-ISH. NASHVILLE, which still has one episode to air, held at 0.8.
CBS: The SURVIVOR season finale was steady with last week at 2.1, and down 0.2 from last year’s finale. The REUNION SPECIAL after-show, at 1.5, lost 0.3 from the 2015 edition
NBC: HEARTBEAT and CHICAGO PD remained at last week’s 0.7 and 1.4. SVU fell 0.2 from last week to 1.2.
CW: ARROW and SUPERNATURAL were steady at 0.8/0.7.
The last Thursday of the broadcast season brings another half-dozen season finales: MOM, GREY’S ANATOMY, a 2-hour THE CATCH, THE BLACKLIST, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and THE 100.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
