MACGYVER is still the night’s success story, despite a Week 2 dip.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis follows the chart.
CBS: MACGYVER fell 0.3 from last week’s premiere, but its 1.4 was still the highest number of the night, and it would be a surprise if it didn’t receive a quick back order. HAWAII 5-0 slipped 0.1 to 1.3, and BLUE BLOODS was steady at 1.3.
FOX: THE EXORCIST is in trouble, down 0.3 from last week’s lousy start to 0.7, the night’s lowest non-CW rating for an original. HELL’S KITCHEN started the night down 0.1 to 1.0.
ABC: LAST MAN STANDING and DR KEN both lost 0.1, respectively to 1.0 and 0.8. SHARK TANK held at 1.1. 20/20 managed a 0.2 increase to 0.9.
NBC: After a 0.6 rerun of THIS IS US, a 2-hour DATELINE remained at last week’s 1.0.
CW: The season finale of MASTERS OF ILLUSION stayed at last week’s 0.4, and was followed by 0.3/0.4 reruns of MASTERS and PENN & TELLER: FOOL US.
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE begins its 185th season tonight with host Margot Robbie and musical guest The Weeknd. Sunday features lots of action, with the 2-hour season finale of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, and season premieres for CBS’s MADAM SECRETARY and ELEMENTARY, Starz’s ASH VS EVIL DEAD and BLUNT TALK, and Showtime’s SHAMELESS. The night’s Big Event, though, is unquestionably the launch of HBO’s long-awaited, much-discussed WESTWORLD.
