INTERNATIONAL BOX OFFICE through December 30

Skyfall is still growing overseas, albeit at a slower rate.  But another $16 million this week puts the overseas total over$700 million and the worldwide total comfortably over $1 billion, joining Marvel’s The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises in the 2012 Billion Dollar Club.

The Hobbit: An Expected Journey vaulted $180 million overseas last week.  We are adjusting the overseas target upward to $610 million, which is at the midpoint of the three overseas grosses for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.  That puts the worldwide target for The Hobbit at around $900 million.

Life of Pi is quietly building a very good following overseas, up another $60 million internationally.  The overseas total could get up to $300 million and the worldwide total to just over $400 million.

Django Unchained has not been released overseas yet, although Les Miserables is off to a solid start with $49 million in a fairly limited eight markets.
