Life without The Voice isn’t so much fun.
NBC: Even in our DVR society, where people can watch what they want pretty much when they want, lead-ins still matter. Thus the replacement of The Voice with oldster reality show OFF THEIR ROCKERS (2 episodes at 1.5/1.8), caused both GO ON and THE NEW NORMAL to plummet to series lows of 1.5/1.3, barely ahead of ABC in the hour. PARENTHOOD, though, held up like a champ, winning its hour with 1.9, which was up slightly from last week.
CBS: The absence of The Voice gave CBS a dominating victory for the night, as NCIS, up 0.2 to 3.5, more than doubled the #2 show in its hour. NCIS LA and VEGAS were both steady at 3.0 and 1.6.
FOX: The 4-sitcom block was mostly flat despite the decrease in competition. RAISING HOPE (1.7), NEW GIRL (2.0) and THE MINDY PROJECT (1.5) were all steady, while BEN AND KATE was up a tick to 1.2.
ABC: A MODERN FAMILY rerun tied for second place at 8PM, and a repeat of THE MIDDLE had a 1.5. The decline at NBC didn’t help the new sitcoms, as HAPPY ENDINGS was barely up to 1.4 and DON’T TRUST THE B— was flat at 1.1. The impending departure of PRIVATE PRACTICE doesn’t seem to be making anyone sentimental, as the show was down slightly to 1.1.
CW: A burn-off EMILY OWENS MD tied a rerun HART OF DIXIE at 0.3.
Tonight CBS presents the least important awards show of the year, the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS. Meanwhile, if you’ve always wanted to see D-level celebrities dive into pools, FOX will give you the chance with STARS IN DANGER: THE HIGH DIVE. ABC and NBC have fresh episodes of their regular line-ups, and CW is still in reruns.
