The Hobbit, like Breaking Dawn Part 2, is finally starting to peter out overseas (each around $550 million overseas and $800+ million worldwide). Still growing briskly, Life of Pi has hauled in another $56 million overseas since last week’s report and is closing in on an impressive $500 million worldwide.
Les Miserables was the second biggest American film overseas since last week (up $52 million to $119 million overseas to date). It’s same-weekend competitor Django Unchained will end up beating Les Miz handily domestically, but Django is a much tougher sell overseas (and has not even been released outside North America yet).
Zero Dark Thirty currently has $3 million overseas and a projected $90 million domestic final gross. We estimate Zero will end up with $50 million overseas, giving it a worldwide total of $140 million. This compares to Hurt Locker‘s $49 million worldwide gross ($17 million domestic and $32 million overseas).
