CBS does FOX a favor.
FOX: With CBS in reruns last night, AMERICAN IDOL didn’t have to face fresh episodes of Big Bang Theory or 2 1/2 Men. That allowed Idol to tie last year’s 5.6 Thursday premiere (which had to contend with a new Big Bang), although it doesn’t bode well for next week, when the competition will be at full strength.
ABC: Idol dented the line-up. GREY’S ANATOMY was down 0.3 to 2.9, and SCANDAL fell 0.2 to 2.6, although the latter was still the dominant winner at 10PM thanks to the CBS reruns. The night started with a burned-off LAST RESORT, down 0.2 to 1.0.
NBC: There was a bright spot for NBC last night, and they’ve been hard to come by on Thursdays this season: PARKS & RECREATION, airing in the 8:30PM slot, had a 1.9, which was up 0.6 from its lead-in and half a point from its last airing. That probably won’t last once it faces new episodes of 2 1/2 Men, but for a show with mixed chances of renewal, at least it was something. The second-to-last 30 ROCK was down 0.2 to 1.3, THE OFFICE was down a tick to 2.1, and 1600 PENN is already done in its 3rd airing, down 0.4 to a dreadful 1.2. ROCK CENTER ended the night with 1.2, up slightly from last week.
CW: The 2013 return of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES flexed its muscles with a 1.4, up a bit from its last airing. At 9PM, the network aired another replay of the CARRIE DIARIES pilot, which at 0.5 wasn’t that far off from a new Beauty & the Beast.
CBS: The reruns were highlighted by 3.3 for THE BIG BANG THEORY, with 1.6/1.4 for the dramas.
Tonight: the 2-hour finale of FRINGE, on its way to another dimension, timeline or future where people will actually watch it. Most of the networks feature new programming, although SHARK TANK is a rerun.
