The Grammys were big–but not as big as last year’s.
CBS: The 2013 GRAMMY AWARDS had a 10.1 rating, completely dominating the night. However, that was steeply down from last year’s 14.1 (which may have been partly the result of Whitney Houston’s sudden death before the ceremony).
ABC: It’s not clear why ABC chose to air new programming against the Grammys, and the gamble certainly didn’t work out for them. Both ONCE UPON A TIME and REVENGE hit new all-time lows of 2.2 and 1.4 at a time when neither series has been in its ratings stride. The reality show REVENGE FOR REAL, filler until Red Widow fills the 10PM slot next month, had a lousy 0.8.
FOX: With the exception of THE CLEVELAND SHOW (up 0.1 to 1.3), which aired before the Grammys started, everything was down: THE SIMPSONS by 0.2 to 2.1, BOB’S BURGERS by 0.2 to 1.8, FAMILY GUY by 0.5 to 2.4, and AMERICAN DAD by 0.2 to 2.0.
NBC: Probably wisely, NBC stuck with reruns, which did badly but at least didn’t waste original content: last week’s BETTY WHITE 2ND ANNUAL 90TH BIRTHDAY SPECIAL at 0.6, and SNL IN THE 80s at 0.8.
Tonight, all the networks have fresh episodes of their regular programming.
