NBC hopes last night’s Revolution rating was an April Fool’s joke.
Last night’s ratings compared to the comparable night last year, in this case March 26 instead of April 2 because the NCAA Champsionship was played in early April last year.
NBC: REVOLUTION fell to a series low 2.3 last night, down 0.3 from last week’s spring debut (note: it began at 10:01PM, so further adjustment may be in store), barely winning its hour–and with CBS airing a night of reruns. The show is still a success, and a big one by NBC’s current standards, but any more slippage and it’ll be hard to call it a major “hit”. (It won’t help that the show started what looks to be an underwhelming explanation of “why the lights went out” last night.) THE VOICE dropped 0.2 to 4.6, easily dominating the night and above its fall average.
ABC: There was no recovery for DANCING WITH THE STARS, which had its lowest performance show rating ever with a 2.1 (although if the less valuable viewers over 50 are included, it was the most-watched show of the night, even beating The Voice). The 100th episode of CASTLE only rose a tick to 2.2, despite much publicity and the rerun on CBS.
FOX: Basically a stable night, with only 0.1 changes in both of the network’s shows, but if the numbers don’t adjust in the finals, THE FOLLOWING eased its way to a new series low 2.2. BONES was slightly up to 2.0.
CBS: All reruns, led by 1.4s for 2 BROKE GIRLS and MIKE & MOLLY.
CW: THE CARRIE DIARIES held serve with yet another consecutive 0.4, then a HART OF DIXIE rerun had a 0.2.
NBC clears its Tuesday decks tonight, with back-to-back season finale episodes of THE NEW NORMAL followed by the final Tuesday episode of SMASH before it heads to the netherworld of Saturdays. ABC is all new, but FOX has a NEW GIRL rerun. The only new show on CBS is GOLDEN BOY and CW is all-rerun. On cable, the season finale of JUSTIFIED won’t give FX the gaudy numbers cable enjoyed last Sunday, but it brings to a close one of the most satisfying series of the season.
