ABC’s lesson for the night is that lead-ins matter.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN (1.1) and TOY STORY OF TERROR (0.8) were both down 0.3 from 2017. Without a GREY’S ANATOMY lead-in, STATION 19 toppled half a point from a series high 1.3 to a series low 0.8. HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER slipped 0.1 to 0.7.
CBS: THE BIG BANG THEORY dropped 0.3 to tie its series low 2.0, and YOUNG SHELDON was down 0.1 to 1.7. MOM was steady at 1.3, and both MURPHY BROWN (0.9) and SWAT (0.7) lost 0.1.
