A soft night for specials and premieres.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
NBC: CHRISTMAS AT ROCKEFELLER CENTER dropped 0.2 from last year’s edition to 1.1, and MAKING IT held at 0.5.
FOX: THE MASKED SINGER was way up from last week’s Thanksgiving Eve edition, but compared to 2 weeks ago, it was down 0.1 to 1.8. THE MOODYS began its 3-night run at 0.7, a bit higher than ALMOST FAMILY has been doing in that slot for whatever that’s worth.
ABC: Returning from holiday break, THE GOLDBERGS (0.8) and SCHOOLED (0.6) were each down 0.1, and MODERN FAMILY (0.9) and SINGLE PARENTS (0.6) were both steady. STUMPTOWN remained at 0.5.
CBS: SURVIVOR gained 0.1 from last week to 1.2, SEAL TEAM dropped 0.1 to 0.7, and SWAT was down 0.2 to 0.5.
CW: RIVERDALE (0.2) and NANCY DREW (0.2) were steady.
The broadcast networks have mostly been out of the 2-hour original movie business in recent years, but tonight ABC returns to the genre with SAME TIME, NEXT CHRISTMAS.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 live+same day ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
