OPENINGS: There was a barely-wide opening for OUR FRIEND (Gravitas, also on VOD) at 543 theatres with a $250K weekend that translated into a quiet per-theatre average of $460.
HOLDOVERS: THE MARKSMAN (Open Road) dipped 35% in its 2nd weekend to $2M (by comparison, Liam Neeson’s prior vehicle Honest Thief dropped 43% in Weekend 2 last October), and should reach $12-15M in the US.
THE CROODS: A NEW AGE (DreamWorks/Universal, also on VOD) continues to hold well despite home availability, down 9% to $1.8M in its 9th weekend, and chasing a possible $50M US total. In addition, it has $98M overseas after a $1.6M weekend in 17 markets.
WW84 (DC/Warners, also on HBO Max) fell 38% to $1.6M in its 5th weekend. It’s on target for a $45M US total, but we’ll see next weekend whether it gets any bounce from the end of its initial HBO Max window. It also has $110.3M overseas after a $2.1M weekend in 41 territories.
NEWS OF THE WORLD (Universal, also on VOD) was down 19% to $800K in its 5th weekend, and will hope that awards nominations can push it past $15M in the US.
MONSTER HUNTER (Screen Gems/Sony) declined 13% to $800K in its 6th weekend, on its way to perhaps $15M in the US. It’s at $7.9M overseas.
FATALE (Lionsgate, also on VOD) lost 12% to $400K in its 6th weekend, and probably won’t reach $10M in the US.
PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (Focus/Universal, also on VOD) slipped 10% to $400K in its 5th weekend, with an aim to being part of the awards conversation tide that will gt it significantly past $5M in the US. It also has $1.4M overseas.
NEXT WEEKEND: THE LITTLE THINGS (Warners) will continue the studio’s experiment of launching simultaneously in theatres and on HBO Max.

OPENINGS: Considering its 17% Saturday drop, GODZILLA (Warners/Legendary) may ease down a bit from its $93.2M weekend estimate when final numbers are released on Monday. (It’s assuming a 30% Sunday drop, equal to Amazing Spider-Man 2’s and less than Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s, even though those 2 movies…
