Lifetime’s Jennifer Love Hewitt massage-parlor epic THE CLIENT LIST had a premiere on par with last week’s Army Wives episode, around 2.8M viewers. (One imagines it might have skewed younger than Wives, but no demo information is out yet.) If Client can maintain that level of rating, the network will be delighted, as every companion piece they’ve aired after Wives until now has lost a huge chunk of that show’s audience. As usual with cable, though, the Client premiere was the culmination of a concentrated and expensive marketing push, so it’ll take a week or 2 until the show finds its real level.

In other Sunday cable news, MAD MEN (which had its first really brilliant episode of the new season, a conflagration of fairy tales, serial killings and mid-60s sexual tension) and THE KILLING (continuing to spin its narrative wheels) were both around even with the prior week’s ratings.
