THE SKED: Cable Ratings August 16-22

>A fairly typical summer week on cable.  Jersey Shore and True Blood land on top of the chart, while ESPN’s Monday Night Football (preseason) had a good showing.  Keeping Up with the Kardashians (featuring the taste and elegance of a wedding that only a cable reality series can muster) was up to a 2.0 rating (usually around a 1.6 or 1.7).

The rest of the chart is littered with shows from Newton Minnow’s “Vast Wasteland”:  people picking through storage units, underage parents, fake wrestling, and cars turning left on an oval track.  It’s kind of sad when Royal Pains looks like the classiest, smartest program on the list.
