GO ON: TUESDAYS 9PM ON NBC
WHAT IT’S SAYING: Chandler Bing… um, Matthew Perry is back! Still sarcastically quipping to hide his deeper feelings after all these years.
WHAT IT’S REALLY SAYING: Also back: Dear John. With a dash of a (less bizarre) Community, as the oddball grief counseling group bands together to do strange yet charming things. The Will-They-Or-Won’t-They is already in motion with Laura Benanti’s nice therapist. The “March Sadness” bit is actually pretty great, but since every episode can’t be about Perry getting slightly less grief-stricken or monotonousness will set in fast, a lot is going to depend on the ensemble–and barely-speaking-English jokes only go so far. Also, the sentimentality (he made the silent boy speak!) will have to be held in check. Still, “better than Mr. Sunshine” isn’t a bad place to start.
