AFTERNOON UPDATE: BAD TEACHER is already on life support, down another 0.1 in adjusted numbers to 1.4. As often happens, THE BIG BANG THEORY gained 0.1 at the expense of THE MILLERS. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES avoided tying its low with an extra 0.1. All else was as-is–including the series low for AMERICAN IDOL–except that the 8PM rerun of GREY’S ANATOMY gained 0.1.
THURSDAY CABLE: The VIKINGS (History) season finale, rather oddly, climbed in total viewers by about 10% (to 3.4M), but slipped 0.1 in 18-49s to 1.1. Its lead-in PAWN STARS rose 0.1 to 0.9. The season finale of SIRENS (USA) was steady at 0.5. The NBA PLAYOFFS on TNT again topped the night at 2.0/1.6 (and once again the night’s 3rd game on NBA Network trailed at 0.4), while an NHL PLAYOFFS game on NBC Sports Network was at 0.9.
What a rotten night.
FOX: It’s come to this: not only did AMERICAN IDOL fall 0.3 to a series low 1.5 last night, it was beaten by NBC’s IHeartRadio Music Awards special. It was followed by 1.0 for SURVIVING JACK, matching its low. The night started with 1.6 for HELL’S KITCHEN, down 0.1.
NBC: That IHEARTRADIO MUSIC AWARDS special wasn’t any kind of blockbuster, a 1.7 for the night, but that was still considerably better than the network’s usual Thursday line-up has done all season.
ABC: The return of Isiah Washington to GREY’S ANATOMY paid some dividends, as the show rose 0.3 to 2.5. (A rerun of Washington’s last episode as a series regular that preceded the new hour scored 0.9.) At 10PM, despite the higher-lead-in, the 2d episode of BLACK BOX dropped 0.2 to 1.3.
CBS: THE BIG BANG THEORY slipped 0.1 to 4.4 (it will probably gain in adjused afternoon numbers). The other sitcoms fared much worse: THE MILLERS down 0.3 to 2.1, 2 1/2 MEN down 0.4 to 2.1, and BAD TEACHER plunging 0.6 from last week’s premiere to 1.5. ELEMENTARY was steady at 1.6.
CW: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES dropped 0.1 to 0.7, tying the series low it set just a few weeks ago. REIGN held even at 0.5.
The networks are all new tonight, with ABC airing a SHARK TANK-themed special in the 8PM hour as a lead-in to the series.
