NETWORK UPDATE: Game 3 of THE NBA FINALS climbed to 5.9 in time-zone adjusted numbers, while the primetime JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and NBA COUNTDOWN fell to 1.0/1.6. The only other adjustment was a 0.1 dip for the rerun SUPERNATURAL on CW.
TUESDAY CABLE; PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, just renewed for 2 additional seasons, returned to ABCFamily and tied for the night’s cable lead at 1.1, but that was down 0.2 from last summer’s premiere (it was also down 0.1 from the spring premiere and down 0.1 from the season finale). CHASING LIFE premiered afterwards, at roughly the same numbers at last year’s post-PRETTY LITTLE LIARS show TWISTED, losing half of its lead-in’s audience in both 18-49s (0.5) and total viewers (1.3M)–and that didn’t work out too well for TWISTED. Digging into their target demos a bit more, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS was at 3.5 in Females 12-34 and a massive 5.6 in Females 12-17, while CHASING LIFE was at 1.6/2.5. Also returning was USA’s ROYAL PAINS–it was down just 0.1 in 18-49s, but took a serious hit in total viewers, at 2.4M compared to last summer’s 3.7M premiere. PLAYING HOUSE followed it at 0.4, down 0.1 from last week. The next-to-last episode of FARGO (FX) held at 0.6. On MTV, AWKWARD. and the season finale of FAKING IT were steady at 0.5/0.4. In the MTV target demos, the two shows were even closer, at 1.4/1.3 in Females 12-34, and both at 1.9 in Females 12-17. THE DEADLIEST CATCH (Discovery) was the other cable leader with 1.1, down 0.1 from last week. THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS (OWN) fell 0.2 to 0.7. The TLC hits were also down, with THE LITTLE COUPLE off 0.1 to 0.8, and 19 KIDS AND COUNTING–a rerun?–losing half of last week’s viewers to 0.5.
Basketball, of course, dominated, but NBC had some good news as well.
ABC: Game 3 of THE NBA FINALS was down 0.1 from the preliminary number for Sunday’s game at 4.9 (it was the same preliminary rating Game 3 had last year). That number will likely go up by around a point this afternoon, and the same point will be deducted from the current 1.9/2.4 for the primetime JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE and NBA COUNTDOWN.
NBC: While AMERICA’S GOT TALENT went down 0.3 from last week to 2.6 with the increased competition from ABC, THE NIGHT SHIFT impressively held steady at 1.5, suggesting the show may have found a bit of a following. (However, Night Shift started at 10:01PM, so that number may not hold.)
FOX: Steady wasn’t good, as RIOT and I WANNA MARRY HARRY both held at 0.4.
CW: FAMOUS IN 12 actually went up from last week, although still just at 0.3. The rerun of SUPERNATURAL that followed was at 0.2.
CBS: Reruns, led by NCIS at 0.9.
THE 100, the last remaining network show still continually running from the 2013/14 broadcast season, airs its season finale tonight (Beauty & the Beast, Believe and Crisis are still on, but they were all yanked from the regular schedule at one point or another.) USA has the season premieres of SUITS and GRACELAND.
