McDreamy mourners may have been angry, but they showed up.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: The two-hour GREY’S ANATOMY was at 2.5 in its first hour and 2.6 in the second, and while that was down from the 2.8 for last week’s event episode, it’s still well above the recent ratings that preceded that one. AMERICAN CRIME managed to eke out a 0.1 increase to 1.0.
NBC: Remember THE BLACKLIST? Was a hit once upon a time? It fell 0.3 to yet another new low of 1.2, and at this point it’s no more than another marginal NBC performer. It was preceded by a 0.5 rerun, and followed by DATELINE (steady at 0.9).
CBS: THE BIG BANG THEORY dropped 0.4 to 3.2 (off more than 30% from the parallel night last year), and in that context the steady 2.0 for THE ODD COUPLE looked pretty good. The season finale of MOM was up 0.1 to 2.0, followed by a steady 1.7 for the regularly scheduled BIG BANG THEORY rerun. ELEMENTARY rounded out the evening down 0.1 to 1.2.
FOX: BONES fell 0.1 to a new series low 0.9, and BACKSTROM was also down 0.1 to 0.7.
CW: Another all-time low, this one for THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, down 0.1 to 0.5 and desperately in need of the reboot that Nina Dobrev’s departure will require next season. REIGN remained at 0.3.
ABC premieres BEYOND THE TANK tonight, and FOX continues to use Fridays for theatricals, tonight’s being TAKEN. Otherwise, it’s a night of fresh regular programming.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
