Game 1 of THE WORLD SERIES scored in an epic at-bat.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: The 5-hour long 1st game of THE WORLD SERIES was tremendous at 4.6, far above last year’s preliminary 2.9. For more analysis of the game’s numbers, see our SKEDBALL Special Report.
ABC: WICKED CITY had a weak debut at 0.9, far below the competition, and pushing the network’s Tuesday 10PM problems into a new season. THE MUPPETS was up 0.1 to 1.4 and FRESH OFF THE BOAT was steady at the same number after taking last week off for holiday specials. AGENTS OF SHIELD was also at 1.4, which was down 0.1 from last week.
NBC: BEST TIME EVER slipped 0.1 to 1.1, and THE VOICE was down 0.2 to 2.5, but despite fresh competition from ABC and baseball, CHICAGO FIRE gained 0.2 for a commanding 1.9.
CBS: NCIS was down 0.2 to 2.0, but both NCIS: NEW ORLEANS and LIMITLESS were steady at, respectively, 1.6 and 1.4.
CW: THE FLASH edged down 0.1 to 1.3, but IZOMBIE rose the same to 0.6.
THE WORLD SERIES continues tonight, and on the cable side, CNBC may unusually hit the top end of our chart thanks to the latest REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
