MADOFF didn’t cash in.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: The network couldn’t have expected a show toplining Richard Dreyfuss and Blythe Danner to skew young, and MADOFF didn’t, with an indifferent 1.2 18-49 rating. It was, however, stronger with the older total viewers metric, totaling over 7M viewers. AMERICAN CRIME slipped 0.1 to 0.8.
CBS: The insertion of a rerun CRIMINAL MINDS in the line-up didn’t disrupt things very much, as 2 BROKE GIRLS and CODE BLACK were each down 0.1 (respectively to 1.5 and 1.2), and MIKE & MOLLY held at 1.6.
FOX: AMERICAN IDOL easily took the night, down 0.2 to 2.3, and HELL’S KITCHEN was up 0.1 to 1.5.
NBC: Compared to their last original episodes 2 weeks ago, THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA was down 0.1 to 1.1, but SVU gained 0.1 to 1.8, and CHICAGO PD rose 0.2 to 1.7. (For those who don’t know, NBCUniversal just concluded a new giant deal with proceduralmeister Dick Wolf, extending his reign at the network and studio through the rest of the decade–well-deserved, since Wolf currently provides NBC with 4 of its 8 scripted dramas, with CHICAGO LAW and probably more still to come.)
CW: ARROW fell 0.2 to 0.9, while SUPERNATURAL was steady at 0.7.
MADOFF concludes tonight, bringing to a close ABC’s Thursday winter hiatus desert, before Shondaland returns next week.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
