Dallas isn’t a flash in the pan.
TNT: The 2d episode of DALLAS held up well from its premiere–surprisingly, even more so with younger audiences than with total viewers. 18-49 demo number fell from 1.5 to 1.3, a 15% drop that’s more than reasonable given the premiere’s hype and the network’s huge marketing campaign for the show. Total viewership fell by about a third, from 6.8 million viewers to 4.8 million. (Maybe the oldsters couldn’t stay awake?) The show is now on par with Falling Skies (4.5 million total viewers and 1.5 18-49s), not at all a bad place to be.
USA: Even though Dallas was down a bit in the competing timeslot, ROYAL PAINS and NECESSARY ROUGHNESS were seemingly was dead even for the week, Pains watched by around 3.9 million people, of whom about 35% were under 50. and ROUGHNESS was watched by 3 million people, with a similar proportion under 50.
ABCFAMILY: The new sitcom BABY DADDY premiered with a 0.7 in 18-49s that matched its lead-in MELISSA & JOEY, and with about 150,000 more total viewers for a total of around 1.7 million. In the Women’s demos this particular network cares about, ABCFamily reported that the show was #1 in primetime among 12-34 year olds, and #2 (behind Melissa & Joey) in 18-34s for the day.
TVLAND: THE SOUL MAN premiered with around 1.9 million total viewers, about 800,000 of them under 50. That was considerably better than its hourmate THE EXES, with 1.2 million total viewers, about half a million of them 18-49.
