“Only” a 9.7 rating with Adults 18-49 for NBC in prime time last night — a little better than the same night in Beijing but actually lagging behind the same night in Athens. But they’ll be back into the double-digit demo rating territory tonight with the Women’s Gymnastics individual medals at stake.
Through six nights of coverage, the London Games are averaging an 11.0 rating, still six tenths of a rating point ahead of the very good Beijing number. Tomorrow, the Olympic average will probably peak around an 11.3 and then slowly drift down through Closing Ceremony. NBC has an outside chance of maintaining a double-digit rating for the entire 17-night average, but a high 9 rating is more likely at the end.
On CBS, an original Big Brother scored a 1.9 rating, the top rated show non-Olympic show last night on a broadcast network. For the night CBS scraped together a second-place 1.3 rating. ABC averaged a 0.8 rating with repeat comedies and original Final Witness, while FOX averaged a 0.7 with a repeat So You Think You Can Dance.
