>The Hunger Games will hold on to the #1 spot at the box office this weekend. With $12.9 million Friday, Hunger Games is headed for $32.5 million in its third weekend, beating the $30.5 million ShowBuzzDaily forecast. The film is should pass $300 million Sunday and is now headed for $378 million domestic.
The two openers this weekend are opening far below our forecast. American Reunion pulled in $9.2 million Friday and is headed for $22.5 million this weekend, far below the bullish $33 million forecast. The continuation of the American Pie story is headed for $77 million domestic.
The 3D re-release of Titanic grossed $7.1 million Friday and is headed for $18.0 million Friday-Sunday, way below our $32 million forecast. With $8.36 million in the bank from Wednesday-Thursday, the James Cameron epic should total $26.4 million through Sunday, on its way to a domestic re-release total of $64 million.
