As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we have a change to report in the Team Weil slate for the ShowBuzzDaily Summer Movie Draft.  Paramount has decided to push G.I. Joe: Retaliation out of the summer to March 29, 2013 to allow for a 3D conversion.  Absolutely, nothing wrong the film — nothing to see here, they insist.  We are sure a great film will now be fantastic in 3D next year.  But that means Weil’s #4 film (12th pick overall) needed to be replaced.  The pickings were rather slim, and Team Weil selected Katy Perry: Part of Me (releasing Thursday, July 5) to replace G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  The Katy Perry concert film is now designated on the tracking chart as pick #12R.

Through Thursday, Team Metcalf (with a very front-loaded slate dominated by the hit The Avengers) totals $547 million in domestic box office to date, followed by $33.5 million for Team Weil and $31.8 million for Team Salem.  Metcalf’s stockpiling ways continue this weekend with the opening of Men in Black 3.  The next film for Salem is Snow White & the Huntsman on June 1, while Weil comes up to the plate next on June 22 with Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.  By July 4, Metcalf will watch Salem’s and Weil’s heavy hitters open, hoping his slate can sit on the lead amassed by that point.
