THE SKED: “Community” Makes It To Senior Year

Late today, NBC thrilled… well, not many viewers, but we’re very enthusiastic.  The network announced its renewal of COMMUNITY for a 4th season.  As had been rumored, the order is for 13 episodes (although unlike the similar order for 30 Rock, this isn’t designated as an official “final season”).  Considering the radical eccentricity of the show, and its less-than-sizable audience, the fact that it’s getting to a Season 4 is something of a triumph.  (And also probably a reflection of what a low license fee Sony Television was willing to accept.)

Although THE OFFICE has yet to be officially renewed, today’s news that John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and Ed Helms are renewing their deals makes that a formality.  The fates of–in descending order of likely survival–PARKS & RECREATION, UP ALL NIGHT and WHITNEY are still to be determined.
