NBC narrowly won Monday night with a weakening Voice still the highest-rated show on the night with young adults.  CBS was back with its regular schedule, all in originals.  While the 8:00-9:30 CBS schedule is on track to finish just below previous season lows, 9:30-11:00 is slightly ahead of season lows for those programs.

NBC’s The Voice fell below a 4 rating in the fast nationals with Adults 18-49 last night, although the 3.9 rating preliminary rating will probably go up to a 4.0 in the official nationals later today (still a season low for the singing competition).  Smash turned in a 2.1 rating at 10 pm, which could go down to a 2.0 in the official nationals, setting a new season low for the series despite the guest appearance of Uma Thurman last night.  With ABC’s Castle off last night, Smash might have had the opportunity for more sampling, but the audience seems to have made up its mind.  Last year on this night: Chuck (1.3) and Law & Order LA 9-11 pm (1.5).

After last week’s pre-emption for the NCAA basketball championship, CBS Monday was back.  While How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls and Two and a Half Men were at our below season lows for originals, Mike & Molly and Hawaii Five-O are in track to finish slightly ahead of recent original episode ratings and above their season lows.  Nonetheless, the entire night came within a few tenths of first place NBC, which is fading.  Last year on this night:  How I Met Your Mother (2.7), Mad Love (1.9), Mike & Molly (2.5), Two and a Half Men repeat (2.1) and Hawaii Five-O (2.5).

Dancing with the Stars held steady at a 2.9 rating from 8-10 pm, but viewers scattered at 10 pm when a repeat of the Scandal pilot aired.  The drama starring Kerry Washington averaged only a 1.5 rating from 10:00-10:30 and then fell again to a 1.1 from 10:30-11:00.  (The repeat of Scandal averaged a 1.3 for the hour, about what a Castle repeat would have done.)  Last year on this night, ABC averaged a 4.0 rating: Dancing with the Stars (4.5) and Castle (3.0).

FOX Monday settled down to just above a 2 rating, as Bones came back to Earth with a 2.1 rating.  The return of the series last week was helped by the arrival of Bones’ baby, one of those promotable “life events” that can’t happen every week.  House shuffles on toward oblivion, with a new season low (2.0 rating).  Last year on this night, FOX averaged a 2.5 rating with House (3.2) and Chicago Code (1.8).
