>FOX ratings last night were nearly identical to two Thursdays ago (the last time The X Factor and Bones were in originals).  Both shows last represent major time period improvements over the same night last year: The X Factor (3.1) vs Bones (2.3) last year at 8 pm, and Bones (2.9) vs Fringe (1.8) last year at 9.  For the night, FOX averaged a 3.0 rating, good enough for first place (a sad statement) on a night filled with repeats and specials on the competition.

ABC found itself in second place for the evening with a 2.1 Adult 18-49 rating.  Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town (2.2 rating) was down one tenth of a rating point from last year, when the special aired in the same time period.  From 9-11 pm last night ABC aired CMA Country Christmas (part of the price of being able to air the more popular CMA Awards) and scored a 2.1 rating.  This rating is up substantially from the 1.4 it received last year (airing on Monday, November 29 after the 1.2-rated Skating with the Stars).  Last year on the comparable Thursday, however, ABC aired originals of Grey’s Anatomy (4.0) and Private Practice (2.8).

CBS took the night off last night and took third place for the evening with a 1.9 rating for a slate of repeat episodes.  The night was down a touch from the repeats on Thanksgiving night last week.  Last year on this night: Big Bang Theory (2.4), $#*! My Dad Says (1.9), CSI (1.8), The Mentalist (1.7).

NBC programmed all originals and came away with a fourth-place 1.8 rating for the evening.  The comedies were on the low end of ratings in recent weeks, while Prime Suspect hit a 1.3 rating, toward the upper end of recent ratings but nevertheless still in third place for the 10 pm hour.  Last year on this night: Community (1.9), 30 Rock (2.3), The Office (3.7), Outsourced (2.5), and Apprentice (1.4).
