FOX won the first night of summer with a 2.4 preliminary rating with Adults 18-49 for the two-hour premiere of So You Think You Can Dance from 8-10 pm.  This is down a disappointing 27% from last summer’s 3.3-rated premiere on the same night.  (The decline is certainly not unprecedented given the rough spring on network television.)

ABC premiered Duets directly opposite SYTYCD and came up a little short (1.7 rating from 8-10 pm).  The rating nonetheless improved upon last year’s Wipeout repeat (1.4 at 8 pm) and Rookie Blue repeat (0.9 at 9 pm), although that’s not saying much since we are comparing an original telecast to repeats.  Rookie Blue premiered at 10 pm with a 1.4 rating, slightly below last year’s premiere on June 23 in the same time period (1.6) and just behind a repeat Mentalist on CBS (1.5 rating last night, #1 in the hour).

CBS and NBC aired mostly repeats, with CBS’s stronger schedule averaging a 1.6 from 8-11 pm (tying ABC for second place behind FOX).  NBC averaged a 0.9 from 8-11 pm.  An original Awake episode at 10 pm also scored a 0.9 rating, putting it third in the hour.
