The Sked: TUESDAY RATINGS April 17

>Last night every network was down from last week despite only one network (CBS) airing mostly repeats.  It’s a battle of mediocrity on Tuesday nights, with only half a rating point separating first place (2.4) from fourth place place (1.9).  NBC looked like it had so momentum last Tuesday, but NBC Tuesday returned to ratings levels from two weeks ago.  Meanwhile, a somewhat promising return for Glee last week was replaced by the reality last night that the show really is over.  Finally, Private Practice moved to Tuesday at 10 pm last night (leaving its Grey’s Anatomy lead in behind) and failed to clear the low bar set by Body of Proof.

NBC’s Tuesday night settled down a bit from last week.  While Biggest Loser ticked up one tenth (the episode was promoted with footage showing contestants walking off the set), The Voice Results and Fashion Star retreated back down a few tenths.  As a whole, the night was down two tenths from last week, hanging on to second place (one tenth behind FOX).  Last year on this night: Biggest Loser (2.3) from 8-10 pm and Parenthood (2.5).

Glee could not maintain last week’s rating (down three tenths), while the 9-10 pm comedies were within a tenth of last week.  Last year on this night, FOX aired Glee (3.8) followed by Raising Hope (2.1) and Traffic Light (1.3).

CBS fell to third place with two of three dramas in repeat last night.  At 8 pm, NCIS was the lone original, turning in a season low 3.0 rating (still the second-highest network show last night, behind The Voice Results).  Last year on CBS on this night:  NCIS repeat (2.2), NCIS Los Angeles repeat (2.4) and another NCIS Los Angeles repeat (2.1).

ABC’s 8-9 pm comedies continue to struggle, with Last Man Standing setting a new season low and Cougar Town matching its low.  Dancing with the Stars Results ticked up on tenth from last week’s season low, providing a second-place lead in to the relocated Private Practice, which performed worse than recent episodes of Body of Proof (not at all encouraging).  The same night last year:  Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution (1.1), Dancing with the Stars results (3.0) and Body of Proof (2.4).
