>CBS had a terrific night with two specials and a repeat of one drama. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer scored a very good and time-period winning 4.0 rating at 8 pm, about the same as an NCIS original would have done but much higher than the more logical comparison (an NCIS repeat). Compared to last year, Rudolph was up one tenth of a rating point. At 9 pm, an NCIS repeat (2.9 rating) was better than an NCIS: LA repeat — so no rating points were left on the table. At 10 pm, Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (4.6) just about doubled what an Unforgettable original would have done. Even more impressive, Victoria’s was up 35% from the same special last year (3.4 rating) with a nearly identical lead-in. A very well programmed night that gave CBS a 3.8 rating for the entire evening, almost matching the dominance we usually see on CBS Mondays.

FOX stuck with its regular Tuesday and got results very similar to last several Tuesdays. Glee finished second in the 8 pm hour, New Girl won the 9:00 half hour, and Raising Hope tied for second at 9:30 — all of that adding up to a second place 3.1 for the night.

NBC moved into third place on the night (thanks mostly to Dancing not being on ABC). Biggest Loser tied a season high (2.4 rating) with its “makeover” episode, and Parenthood also tied a season high (2.2 rating). The 8-11 pm average for NBC adds up to a 2.3 rating.

With Dancing off the schedule, ABC Tuesday fell to a 1.8 rating from 8-11 pm. Last Man Standing was the highest rated ABC show last night (2.4 rating), but that also marked a series low for the comedy. Man Up! also tied a series low, while The Middle repeats from 9-10 (1.4 rating) brought a fourth place finish in the hour. Body of Proof tied its season low, not surprising given the very low lead-in and the tough special time period competition on CBS..
