The Sked: THURSDAY RATINGS May 24 — Summer Begins

Posted May 25, 2012 by Mitch Metcalf

FOX won the first night of summer with a 2.4 preliminary rating with Adults 18-49 for the two-hour premiere of So You Think You Can Dance from 8-10 pm.  This is down a disappointing 27% from last summer’s 3.3-rated premiere on the same night.  (The decline is certainly not unprecedented given the rough spring on network television.) THE SKED’S THURSDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 4/5/12

Posted April 6, 2012 by Mitch Salem

>Nobody wanted to watch TV last night. ABC: The premiere of Shonda Rhimes’ SCANDAL tied PRIVATE PRACTICE‘s 2.1 season low, a very unencouraging start. This followed new series lows for GREY’S ANATOMY and MISSING (2.8 and 1.4, respectively), making for a night of failure. FOX: AMERICAN IDOL fell to a series low 3.8, but even […]

Posted July 11, 2012 by Mitch Metcalf

FOX’s coverage of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game is averaging a 2.9 preliminary rating with Adults 18-49.  Remember, that fast nationals do not correctly measure live sports programming.  After the west coast is properly counted in the official nationals, FOX could be looking at a 3.2 or 3.3 rating for the game.  I guess that would […]

THE SKED: “The Killing” Is Mortally Wounded

Posted July 27, 2012 by Mitch Salem

Not many people will mourn THE KILLING.  AMC’s serialized mystery saga began with a great head of steam, and seemed poised to become the network’s next big show, but it became increasingly frustrating to watch.  Its signature blunder was not solving the Rosie Larsen murder after its initial 13 hours, as it seemed to […]
