NBC Wednesday = failure.
NBC: Another new comedy, another flop. BEST FRIENDS FOREVER, despite some good reviews, could only manage a 1.2 premiere. Which was better than the final 2 episodes of the network’s last try, BENT, which exited with a pathetic 0.8 average. The Betty White comedy reality show OFF THEIR ROCKERS at least found some curiosity with a 1.8, although that’s way down from its 2.6 “preview” spisode, and next week it’ll have to contend with new ABC comedy as competition.
CBS: SURVIVOR may have set a new series low (subject to later adjustment) for a regular episode with 2.7. CRIMINAL MINDS was also on the low end with 3.0, but CSI perked up to a midrange 2.9.
FOX: AMERICAN IDOL won the night for FOX despite a season low Wednesday rating of 4.7.
ABC: The marvelous HAPPY ENDINGS season finale was thrown to the wolves as the only non-repeat of the night, with a 1.6. That was, however, second only to a 1.8 for the MODERN FAMILY repeat as the network’s highest number of the night.
CW: ONE TREE HILL ended its run with an unexceptional 0.8.
Tonight ABC premieres Shonda Rhimes’ SCANDAL after the first new GREY’S ANATOMY in several weeks. NBC is also all-new except for THE OFFICE.
