Say it together: EMPIRE is back.

FOX: EMPIRE charged into spring after a nearly 4 month hiatus, with a 4.7 rating that was up 0.2 from its fall finale, reestablishing it as broadcast TV’s biggest non-football hit. (It was, however, down a not-inconsiderable 1.8 from its season premiere in September.) It also gave lead-in ROSEWOOD a 0.4 lift to 1.4.
NBC: HEARTBEAT held at last week’s 0.9. SVU wasn’t hurt much by the return of EMPIRE, down 0.1 to 1.4, while CHICAGO PD was up 0.1 to 1.5.
CBS: SURVIVOR was steady at 2.1. CRIMINAL MINDS, not just facing EMPIRE but coming off last week’s much-hyped episode where a lead character left the show, lost 0.4 to 1.8 (down 0.1 from 2 weeks ago). CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS slipped 0.1 from last week to 1.4.
CW: ARROW had a 0.2 bump to 0.9, while SUPERNATURAL held at 0.6.
ABC: After 2 hours of sitcom reruns (topped by 1.3 for MODERN FAMILY), NASHVILLE remained at 0.9.
Thursday is a busy night. LIFE IN PIECES, SHADES OF BLUE and YOU, ME & THE APOCALYPSE all have season finales, while RUSH HOUR takes over the ELEMENTARY slot on CBS. On cable, ARCHER returns to FX.
