SHOTS FIRED didn’t have high-caliber bullets.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: EMPIRE’s midseason premiere was up 0.1 from December’s finale to 2.8, but that wsa substantially down from September’s 4.1 season premiere. The worse news was the arrival of SHOTS FIRED, which only managed 1.1, below the recent levels for LETHAL WEAPON even when it shared the night with the mediocre-level STAR, let alone its 2.2 premiere ahead of EMPIRE.
NBC: The full line-up aired new episodes for the first time in a month. BLINDSPOT was up 0.1 to 0.9, but SVU fell 0.2 to 1.1, and CHICAGO PD was down 0.1 to 1.2.
CBS: SURVIVOR (1.7) and CRIMINAL MINDS (1.3) were steady, but CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS was down 0.1 to 0.8.
CW: ARROW (0.5) and THE 100 (0.3) stayed at last week’s levels.
ABC: Airing after 2 hours of sitcom reruns (topped by MODERN FAMILY at 1.1), DESIGNATED SURVIVOR dropped 0.2 to 1.1.
The NCAA TOURNAMENT returns tonight to CBS and TBS. Elsewhere on cable, FX has the season finale of BASKETS.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
