WEEKEND STUDIO ESTIMATES January 25-27

With Saturday’s grosses now tallied, Weekend #4 of 2013 is looking like $88 million for the top 12 films (up significantly from the $80 million estimate yesterday but still down 13% from the comparable weekend average).  

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters now looks like a $19 million opening weekend, up from the $16 million estimate yesterday and above the $16.8 million ShowbuzzDaily forecast earlier this week.   The film’s final domestic estimate has been upgraded to $48 million.

Parker is now on track for a $7.0 million weekend, up from yesterday’s $6.5 million estimate but still below the $8.8 million ShowbuzzDaily forecast.  Parker has been upgraded a touch to $19 million total domestic.

Movie 43 is now headed for a $5.0 million opening weekend, up a bit from the $4.6 million yesterday and still significantly under the $11.5 million ShowbuzzDaily forecast on Wednesday.   The film is now on track for an $8 million total domestic gross.

Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook continue to play well and have been upgraded to $100 million and $95 million total domestic, respectively.

The Top 12 Films this weekend are now looking like $88 million total Friday-Sunday, higher than the $80 million estimate yesterday but still down 13% from the average comparable weekend the last four years and down 10% from the same weekend last year.
