FOX had the biggest hit of the night, but still didn’t have a great evening.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: THE MASKED SINGER crashed by 0.6 from last week’s season premiere to 1.9, still a big number but rapidly cooling off. Things got worse with the launch of the network’s much-hyped ALMOST FAMILY, which lost more than half its lead-in at 0.8 (down to 0.7 by the 2nd half-hour). That makes it official that none of the Big 4 broadcast networks has managed a breakout hit fall series.
CBS: SURVIVOR slipped 0.1 to 1.2, and the season premiere of SEAL TEAM was down 0.1 from last fall’s premiere to 0.7. SWAT relocated from Thursday, and it was down 0.1 from that premiere to 0.6.
ABC: THE GOLDBERGS (1.0), SCHOOLED (0.8), MODERN FAMILY (1.1) and STUMPTOWN (0.7) were all steady, and SINGLE PARENTS gained 0.1 to 0.8.
NBC: CHICAGO MED (1.0) and CHICAGO FIRE (1.1) were steady, and CHICAGO PD rose 0.1 to 1.1.
CW: NIGHT 1 of the IHEARTRADIO MUSIC FESTIVAL special was at 0.2.
If NBC’s PERFECT HARMONY and SUNNYSIDE don’t show signs of life tonight, they could be in line to find themselves the first new fall series to be yanked.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 live+same day ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
