>Don't trust the premiere rating.
ABC: If DON'T TRUST THE B– IN APT 23 can continue to retain 70% of its MODERN FAMILY lead-in, it'll be a comfortable win. Now that its premiere marketing blitz is over, we'll find out in the next week or 2 whether it can. FAMILY, SUBURGATORY and THE MIDDLE all hit new lows, and FAMILY's was by a startling 0.4 margin. (It's probably not a coincidence that all were returning after several weeks of reruns.). A REVENGE recap hour did an OK 1.6.
NBC; Add BEST FRIENDS FOREVER to NBC's ever-growing junkpile, as it fell to a terrible 0.9 in its 2d week. OFF THEIR ROCKERS was down too, but to a relatively robust 1.6. ROCK CENTER was practically invisible at 0.6, and a new SVU could no better than tie the REVENGE recap at 10PM.
CBS: SURVIVOR and CSI hit new regular broadcast all-time lows, at 2.6 and 2.3 respectively. CRIMINAL MINDS managed to hold steady at 9PM.
FOX: AMERICAN IDOL gave the network a big victory for the night–even though its preliminary 4.9 tied its season low, that almost doubled the closest competing network.
CW: An AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL rerun almost tied the new episode that followed it, with 0.4/0.5 ratings.
Two items of particular interest on tonight's schedule. ABC airs the 2d episode of SCANDAL, which can't afford to slip much from the premiere. And CBS experiments with a 4-sitcom Thursday, featuring 2 BROKE GIRLS at 9:30. It's not a full-out test, since only RULES OF ENGAGEMENT will be a new episode, but it'll be interesting to see how the shows do against new GREY'S and OFFICE episodes tonight.
