THE SKED’S SUNDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 8/4/13

There’s everything else on television… and then there’s NFL football.

Daily Comparison 2013 Sun Aug 4 three way

NBC:  The preseason exhibition HALL OF FAME GAME is about as meaningless as any “NFL” game can be, but nonetheless it was the first sign of pro football since winter, and last night’s rating (currently at 3.5, which we estimate will rise to 3.8 in final timezone-corrected numbers) more than doubled anything else on network TV.  The game should be up around 10% from last year’s edition.

CBS:  Despite the spike in competition on NBC, BIG BROTHER only dipped 0.1 from last week to 2.2, and UNFORGETTABLE was likewise down 0.1 to 1.2, with a 0.8 MENTALIST rerun rounding out the night.

ABC:  It probably wasn’t a great idea to air the season premiere of SECRET MILLIONAIRE against pro football, and Millionaire had its lowest launch ever, down 0.3 from last season (which started in June) to 1.2.  WHODUNNIT tied its series low, falling 0.1 to 1.0.

FOX:  Animation reruns held up quite well, with the night’s two FAMILY GUY episodes at 1.5/1.6.

Tonight’s event is the season finale of THE BACHELORETTE on ABC, with the other networks airing their regular summer line-ups.  On cable, ABCFamily has the season 1 finale of THE FOSTERS.
