Another new sitcom went nowhere last night.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment) Sunday, the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: MULANEY looked DOA with 1.0 in its debut, losing almost half its FAMILY GUY lead-in. Coming off last week’s event episodes, none of the FOX line-up was very strong, as BOB’S BURGERS had its season premiere in the little-traveled 7:30PM slot with 1.4, and then THE SIMPSONS lost almost half of last week’s premiere number to 1.9, also down more than a point from the parallel night last year. There was a bit of good news from BROOKLYN NINE-NINE, which was hardly a world-beater at 1.6 but held 80% of its SIMPSONS lead-in (although down a full point from last week’s swollen number), but then FAMILY GUY crumbled from last week’s SIMPSONS crossover, down a gigantic 2.7 to 1.9, which was also down more than 20% from last year’s regular episode.
ABC: The good news is that ONCE UPON A TIME, still gliding on its FROZEN storyline, lost a reasonable 0.6 from last week’s season premiere to a still-hefty 3.1. RESURRECTION, though, dropped 0.7 to a 1.8 that didn’t look immortal at all, and REVENGE was down 0.2 to 1.3.
CBS: Boosted by the afternoon NFL game, 60 MINUTES more than doubled to 2.5, and MADAM SECRETARY held onto some of that crowd, up 0.3 to 1.7. By the time THE GOOD WIFE started, it had a mere 0.1 increment to 1.4, and CSI was steady at 1.3. All of the CBS numbers are likely to face adjustment tomorrow morning.
NBC: SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL had a preliminary 6.9, down 0.7 from last week’s early number.
CW continues rolling out its fall schedule tonight with the season premiere of THE ORIGINALS, followed by a SUPERNATURAL clip show.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings for Sunday, the same night last year and same night last week.

The Sked: SUNDAY Ratings
Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
