NETWORK UPDATE: As expected, there were a ton of changes from this morning’s numbers. On NBC, THE VOICE lost 0.1 to 2.6, and STATE OF AFFAIRS dropped 0.2 to 1.5. STATE has an excuse for last night, since live news coverage pushed the show by 20 minutes in part of the country and out of primetime. Nevertheless, if it returns next week with a number like that, the Katherine Heigl vehicle, not to mention NBC’s Monday/Thursday midseason strategy, will be at risk. On CBS, 2 BROKE GIRLS was down 0.4 to 1.6, the BIG BANG THEORY rerun fell 0.5 to 1.5, and SCORPION dropped 0.4 to 1.9. (NCIS: LA, which CBS was already calculating with a 10:30PM start, stayed at 1.5.) On ABC, DANCING WITH THE STARS slipped 0.1 to 2.4, but CASTLE lost 0.3 to 1.7. FOX and CW shows were untouched by all the havoc.
Ratings in key demos for the Top 25 original cable telecasts (plus a few other lower-rated but noteworthy programs):
ESPN’S MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL won the night at 3.80, down 0.73 from last week’s game, and WWE (USA) was at 1.43-1.70 over its 3 hours, up considerably from last week’s 1.21-1.31, but the notable numbers of the evening were the 3rd and 4th place showings for FOX News and CNN’s Ferguson coverage at 1.53/1.48. (Amazing factoid within that fact: FOX News’s rating with Men 50+ was at 5.27, while in that demo CNN was at 1.42, providing a snapshot of just how old and male the FOX News audience is.) Additional news shows took up 10 of the night’s Top 25 slots. Meanwhile, VH1’s line-up was all down, with LOVE & HIP-HOP HOLLYWOOD falling 0.13 to 1.46, K. MICHELLE: MY LIFE down 0.26 to 0.99, and TINY & SHEKINAH’S WEAVE down 0.26 to 0.61. On Discovery, MISFIT GARAGE, which apparently aired without its FAST N LOUD lead-in, fell three-tenths to 0.35, with a FAST N LOUD: DEMOLITION show at 10PM at 0.26. On Adult Swim, MIKE TYSON MYSTERIES gained two-tenths to 0.61. VANDERPUMP RULES (Bravo) fell 0.16 to 0.53. TNT’s MAJOR CRIMES returned at 0.45. FX’s ANGER MANAGEMENT episodes were at 0.31/0.28, down a few hundredths from last week. MTV’s ARE YOU THE ONE gained 0.05 to 0.38. STAR WARS REBELS (Disney XD) was at 0.17, with 656K total viewers
