Demo Profile 2015 WED 21 Jan

FOX:  This may have been the best night of the season for FOX.  Not only did EMPIRE reach a new high, up 0.3 to a massive 4.3 in 18-49s (and high in every demo except Men 50+, one the network doesn’t particularly court), but AMERICAN IDOL reversed its trend by rising 0.3 to 3.3.  still below last year’s 4.0 on the parallel night, but moving in the right direction.

CBS:  THE MENTALIST (up 0.1 to 1.5) is giving CRIMINAL MINDS a considerably lower lead-in than it gets from SURVIVOR, and between that and the new competition from EMPIRE, the 9PM show is suffering, down 0.3 to a new series low 1.9.  STALKER was steady at 1.5.

CW:  ARROW ended 2014 with a huge (and literal) cliffhanger, and it returned with the same 1.1 it had left.  THE 100 also rejoined the line-up, up 0.1 to 0.6.

NBC:  After 0.8 for a MYSTERIES OF LAURA rerun, SVU fell 0.2 to a series low 1.2, and CHICAGO PD held at 1.5.

ABC:  A night of reruns, led by MODERN FAMILY at 1.5.  Even in reruns, BLACK-ISH was seemingly hurt by EMPIRE, with the lowest rating in the 8-10PM hours at 1.1.

Everything on the networks is new tonight aside from THE BIG BANG THEORY and HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, both in reruns.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
