Yep: EMPIRE was up again.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: The unstoppable EMPIRE was up another 0.1 over last week to 5.3, continuing to rewrite the books on what’s possible on network television these days–and it’s been picking up an extra tenth in final ratings, so that number could go higher. EMPIRE more than doubled its AMERICAN IDOL lead-in, which was down 0.2 to 2.6.
ABC: THE MIDDLE fell 0.2 to 2.0, but otherwise it was a strong night. Both THE GOLDBERGS and MODERN FAMILY (which boasted a much-hyped episode filmed with mobile technology) were up 0.3 to a respective 2.5 and 3.4, while BLACK-ISH and NASHVILLE each gained 0.1, to 2.3 and 1.4.
NBC: THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA featured a reunion between Debra Messing and her WILL & GRACE co-star Eric McCormick, and the result was a 0.3 boost to 1.4. SVU held at 1.6, and CHICAGO PD lost 0.2 to 1.5.
CBS: The cycle premiere of SURVIVOR was very stable, down just 0.1 from the midseason 2014 premiere to 2.3. The cycle premiere of THE AMAZING RACE had the same 1.5 as in midseason 2014, which started on a Sunday.
CW: ARROW dropped 0.2 to 1.0, but THE 100 gained 0.1 to 0.6.
CBS launches its post-2 1/2 MEN 9PM hour tonight with a BIG BANG THEORY rerun leading into MOM. They face formidable competition from the 2-hour season finale of HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER. Meanwhile, NBC and THE BLACKLIST will hang on for dear life and hope not to give up more ground.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
