Broadway didn’t stand a chance against basketball.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC; Game 2 of the NBA FINALS had a preliminary 6.1, up 1.1 from last year’s early number for Game 2. That will adjust up in final numbers, while the current 2.7 for a primetime JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE will adjust down.
CBS: THE TONY AWARDS are invariably both the classiest and one of the lowest-rated awards shows on television, and after a few years that trended modestly up, the ratings crashed down by 0.3 to a preliminary 0.9, which if it stands in final numbers would be the show’s worst rating ever. The night started with a 60 MINUTES that was up 0.1 to 0.9.
NBC: Against heavy competition, A.D.: THE BIBLE CONTINUES dropped 0.2 to 0.7, and AMERICAN ODYSSEY fell 0.1 to 0.4, both shows at series lows. The night started with two separate hours of DATELINE, with a 0.7 rating at 7PM and 1.0 at 8PM.
FOX: GOLAN THE INSATIABLE managed to fall 0.2 from last week’s premiere to a miniscule 0.4, outrated by the reruns (topped by FAMILY GUY at 0.7) that preceded it.
NBC, ABC and FOX air original episodes of their summer line-ups tonight. It’s a busy evening on cable, where the networks are beefing up their summer schedules. TNT has season premieres of MAJOR CRIMES and MURDER IN THE FIRST; Bravo launches the scripted ODD MOM OUT after the season premiere of REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ORANGE COUNTY; and ABCFamily follows the summer premiere of THE FOSTERS with the couldn’t-be-more-topical docu-drama BECOMING US, about a family where a parent has come out as transgender.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

The Sked: SUNDAY Ratings
Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
