CODE BLACK avoided the critical list.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
CBS: SURVIVOR dropped 0.2 from last week’s season premiere to 2.3. CRIMINAL MINDS returned at 2.0, down a hefty 0.7 from its fall 2014 premiere. CODE BLACK arrived at 1.6, far from impressive but just a tenth off the lead in its weak slot and fairly steady through the hour.
FOX: It’s news when EMPIRE has any decline, so although its 5.4 more than doubled the next highest score of the night, that was down 1.3 from last week’s massive season premiere. ROSEWOOD began the night similarly, down half a point from its premiere to 1.9, and again rose through the hour as EMPIRE approached.
ABC: THE MIDDLE gained 0.1 and THE GOLDBERGS lost 0.1 from last week at 2.2/2.3. MODERN FAMILY was down 0.3 to 2.9, but BLACK-ISH took a bigger 0.5 hit to 1.9. NASHVILLE stayed at 1.2.
NBC: THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA was steady at 1.2, and SVU edged down 0.1 from last week’s 2-hour premiere to 1.7. The season premiere of CHICAGO PD was down 0.3 from last year to 1.7, although that was in keeping with its normal performance last spring.
CW: The second half of the IHEARTRADIO MUSIC FESTIVAL special rose 0.1 from Tuesday’s edition to 0.4.
Tonight features season premieres for THE BLACKLIST, BONES and SLEEPY HOLLOW. IFC premieres the new comedies BENDERS and GIGI DOES IT.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
