Marvel’s The Avengers (distributed by Disney) has jumped again to $629 million to date overseas (up from $441.5 million last week). United Kingdom continue to lead the way overseas ($48.2 million so far now — up from $25.7 million this time last week). Mexico moved up to the second-biggest territory ($40.7 million to date — up from $17.4 million last week). Australia ($31.7 million), Brazil ($31.4 million) and South Korea ($30.9 million to date) follow. China so far is $18.1 million, according to boxofficemojo.com, and India (huge potential market theoretically but not a big revenue source for US films in practice) is at $8.4 million so far. It’s still early, but we are currently projecting The Avengers will hit $1.51 billion worldwide — a projected $610 million domestic and $900 million overseas.
